On 16 April, Professor Rachel Tribe (Chair of Careif) is chairing an event at the University of East London (UEL) which will bring together leading experts to discuss the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of refugees.
Event - Free training: psychologists and interpreters working within mental health
Careif are pleased to be involved in offering a new event on 24 March which will provide free training for psychologists and interpreters working within mental health. The event will provide a free joint training workshop for both psychologists and interpreters. Both groups will have an opportunity to discuss their respective roles and learn from each other.

Event - how we celebrated the life of Dr Suman Fernando
Careif recently supported a successful event to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr Suman Fernando. This was a hybrid event, which attracted an international audience and speakers who attended in person and online.

Careif is delighted to be an official partner of Unspoken - a mental health film festival, which will be screening a number of films in London throughout October.
Event - Celebration of the life of Dr Suman Fernando
On 13 September, between 2-5pm, Careif will be supporting an event to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr Suman Fernando, who died earlier in the year aged 92. Dr Fernando had an international reputation in the field of critical psychiatry, particularly in relation to advocating for race equity in mental health.

Event - Suicide prevention training in Pakistan
The first steps towards a suicide prevention model for clinicians and medical school students in Pakistan were taken recently when 30 participants received online training to spot the signs in someone who is thinking of suicide and have a conversation that could help save their life.

Careif would like to bring to your attention an important seminar on geopsychiatry that is being organised jointly by the World Psychiatric Association, the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations and the SAARAC Psychiatric Federation.
