Event - Free training: psychologists and interpreters working within mental health
Careif are pleased to be involved in offering a new event on 24 March which will provide free joint training for psychologists and interpreters working within mental health.
Run by Professor Rachel Tribe (Chair of Careif) and Phil Muriel, this innovative event is supported by the British Psychological Society (BPS), Careif, the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) the Association of Community Interpreters (ACIS) and the Association of Interpreters and Translators (AIT).
The event will provide a free joint training workshop for both psychologists and interpreters. Both groups will have an opportunity to discuss their respective roles and learn from each other.

For psychologists
This training program should improve psychologists’ knowledge, skills and the confidence required to work effectively alongside interpreters in mental health settings.
For interpreters
Interpreting in mental health is one of the most challenging settings for both Level 6 Public Service Interpreters and Level 3 Community Interpreters, this training will help develop the ability to work in this context.
