Event - Geopsychiatry webinar - 26 January 2026

Geopsychiatry is an exciting field that focuses on the interface between geopolitical events and their impact on the practice of psychiatry across all ages and subspecialities. Careif are delighted to be involved in an upcoming webinar: A Geopsychiatry Perspective on Research, Policy, and Practice that will take place on 26 January 2026, 2pm.

Chaired by Professor Rachel Tribe (Careif Trustee), the webinar will explore how psychological, socio-cultural, geopolitical, and environmental factors influence mental health. It will cover key research findings, practical applications for clinicians, and implications for policy development. Participants will gain insights into integrating geopsychiatry perspectives into clinical practice and policy-making.

The webinar will feature an introduction by Dr Albert Persaud (Careif co-founder) and also feature talks by Ms Shagufta Nasir (What is geopsychiatry? The need for interdisciplinary action in mental health practice) and Dr Rosie Tchatchoua Djomo (The geopsychiatric turn: why geopsychiatry matters in rethinking mental health).

Geopsychiatry is providing a compelling forum that illuminates and examines how climate changes, conflict, public health crises and other geopolitical events impact the everyday lives of people and their mental well-being around the world. By fostering a multidisciplinary dialogue, geopsychiatry seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of these complex factors influencing mental health in the face of global challenges.
