Careif is delighted to announce the launch of CARE (the Careif Archive of Refugee Empowerment), a free, hand-curated archive of more than 2,000 resources to support the mental health and wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers.

The archive brings together information on education, healthcare, social welfare, and legal services for adults and children, alongside dedicated resources for the humanitarian workers and health and social care professionals who support them. It has been researched and developed by Dr Farkhondeh (Farah) Farsimadan, who has supported refugees, asylum seekers, and migrant communities for over thirty years and continues to update the archive on a voluntary basis.

Dr Farsimadan said:

"We're delighted to announce the launch of CARE! This archive provides links to more than 2,000 hand-curated resources that will help to support the mental health and wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers.

"Refugees and asylum seekers often face many obstacles in accessing education, healthcare, social welfare, and legal services. These resources aim to empower them by providing access to information and support, enabling them to assert their rights and entitlements.

"The archive also provides resources for humanitarian workers and health and social care professionals working with refugee and asylum-seeking adults and children, facilitating a smoother transition and integration process.

"We are keen to keep these resources actively updated and hope they will make a real difference in the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, displaced people, and migrants around the world."

Professor Rachel Tribe, Chair of Careif, added:

"CARE is a remarkable achievement, made possible by Farah's extraordinary dedication over many years. Refugees and asylum seekers are too often left to navigate complex systems alone, at a time when they are most vulnerable.

“This archive brings together, in one place, the information they need to access support - and it helps equip the professionals working alongside them to do so more effectively too. I think there is much in the archive which may also be useful to anyone who has migrated to another country and to professionals working alongside them.

“I'm proud that Careif is able to offer this resource, and I want to thank Farah for the care and expertise she has brought to every part of it and to Dr Keith Bradnam also for his long, continuous  and dedicated technical  expertise, support and time in putting CARE together"

The launch of CARE coincided with World Refugee Day, and forms part of Careif's ongoing commitment to supporting displaced communities worldwide.

We welcome any feedback as well as suggestions for additional relevant resources to add to the archive via our contact form.
