about us
about us

Careif was founded by Prof Kamaldeep Bhui and Dr Albert Persaud in partnership with the University of Auckland in 2001.

Currently, nearly all staff give their time as volunteers. (Our only paid member of staff at present is the charity administration manager).

At present, we have three patrons, who are recognised internationally and nationally for their work and contribution to humanities, reconciliation, justice, sport and young people.

They are:

  • His Excellency, Judge Anand Satyanand, Governor General, New Zealand
  • Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive of Turning Point, England
  • Dr Tony Gardner, General Practitioner turned actor, most recently seen on "My Parents are Aliens", England

Our governance structure includes a board of trustees, a board of directors and a management team.

We plan to expand additional contribution from people who may be patrons, international fellows, volunteers or advisors.
